Modern Warfare 4 (2026), not Call of Duty 4

This guide covers Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the Infinity Ward game releasing October 23, 2026. It is not the 2007 game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or the 2019 reboot. We use the full game name first and MW4 as the short name so search engines and AI answers do not mix the three releases.

The 2026 game launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 with Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ. Campaign Early Access begins October 16 PT for qualifying digital editions.

MW4 maps, Multiplayer and Kill Block

Multiplayer launches with 12 all-new Core maps. Lotus, Rooftops and Mumbai are the three Core maps named in Activision’s written reveal. Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Hardcore, Party Modes, Ground War and Big War are also confirmed.

Kill Block is a dynamic training-facility map with more than 500 launch configurations. Three interchangeable Slabs form each Combo. Its announced launch formats are Gunfight 3v3 and a new 10v10 version, with Core-mode support planned after launch.

MW4 Beta Open Playlists and bot lobbies

Call of Duty has confirmed Open Playlist options for the MW4 Beta. Beta Early Access runs August 21–25; the all-platform Open Beta runs August 28–September 1 with up to 19 weapons, Search & Destroy, Kill Block, the Training Mobility Course and unlockable equipment, Perks and Killstreaks.

An Open Playlist is still public matchmaking against real players; it is not a private or hosted bot lobby. Boss Services plans an MW4 Bot Lobbies service, but its exact format and progression eligibility will be confirmed only after Infinity Ward publishes the final matchmaking and private-lobby rules.

MW4 DMZ and shared weapon progression

MW4 DMZ takes place in the Hajin Exclusion Zone and shares weapon progression with Multiplayer. Confirmed systems include solo or squad deployment, Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, Side Ops, a persistent inventory, the FOB, three Trait Trees, a rotating Weapon Vendor, 3D Printer, MIA recovery, Bounties and Proximity Chat.

DMZ weapons can use five standard attachments plus one Apex Attachment, while eight-attachment weapons can be found in a deployment. The armored Aston Martin Dreadnought is confirmed at select DMZ POIs and in Warzone at launch.

Planned MW4 services at launch

Boss Services plans three separate MW4 service routes: Bot Lobbies, Max All Guns and Mastery Camo Unlocks. Max All Guns means fully progressing every eligible launch weapon so its standard attachments and any applicable Apex progression are available. Mastery Camo Unlocks will cover the published core camo ladder once its names and requirements are known.

Written first-party sources currently name the Kastov 762, ISO Nightshade, Rezi 12, Oris 8.6 and Combat Knife. Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin are the two confirmed promotional Universal Weapon Camos; the core mastery ladder remains unannounced.

These are planned services, not purchasable launch promises. Final delivery method, progression rules, roster size, max weapon levels, core camo names and prices remain unannounced. The weapons guide and camo guide are the live source-of-truth pages.
