How do you unlock the M1A1 Carbine?

The M1A1 Carbine unlocks at Level 65 in Call of Duty: World at War (2008). The final Level 65 weapon unlock combines a quick semi-automatic rhythm with a 15-round magazine and accurate medium-range handling. The in-game weapon is named M1A1 Carbine, but its fixed-stock model is closer to an M1 Carbine than the real folding-stock M1A1.

Weapon ranks and Marksman requirements were checked against original World at War multiplayer rank and challenge tables plus contemporaneous platform guides; historical models were cross-checked against museum and firearm-reference records. Loadout advice is editorial. Multiplayer only — not Campaign, Zombies, Call of Duty: WWII (2017), or later games.

How does the M1A1 Carbine play in World at War?

RoleFast semi-automatic max-rank rifle
Real-world basisAmerican M1 Carbine; the in-game fixed-stock model is not a true folding-stock M1A1
StrengthsHighest base capacity among the semi-automatic Rifles; Box Magazine supports long streaks without an early reload
TradeoffsIt is the final normal weapon unlock at Level 65; Per-shot accuracy still matters against automatic close-range weapons
AttachmentsFlash Hider — 25 kills; Aperture Sight — 75 kills; Bayonet — 100 kills; Box Magazine — 150 kills; Box Magazine is the distinctive end-goal; Aperture Sight remains the cleaner option while building the kill count
Challenge noteExpert I-III use 25, 75 and 150 headshots for 100, 500 and 1,000 XP. They unlock no weapon camo.
Use tipUse the larger magazine to hold a lane through several targets, but keep the trigger rhythm controlled so capacity does not replace accuracy.
Compared withIt holds more rounds than the SVT-40, Gewehr 43 and M1 Garand, but requires reaching the level cap first.

No multiplayer weapon camos — Expert headshot challenges award XP, not skins. See the camo, perk and Pack-a-Punch distinctions.
