How do you unlock the Mosin-Nagant?

The Mosin-Nagant unlocks at Level 21 in Call of Duty: World at War (2008). It is a five-round precision rifle with a slower bolt rhythm than the Springfield and Kar98k. It rewards patient lane control and offers the standard Scope, Bayonet and Rifle Grenade progression once the Level 21 rank unlock is reached. World at War multiplayer has no selectable weapon camos; Expert headshot challenges award XP only.

The game calls it Mosin-Nagant, while the model is closer to an M38 carbine than the more familiar M91/30 sniper rifle.

How does the Mosin-Nagant play in World at War?

RoleDeliberate mid-progression bolt action
Real-world basisSoviet Mosin-Nagant family; the game model resembles an M38 carbine
StrengthsReliable precision role with three attachment paths; Clear progression from iron sights to scope or utility
TradeoffsSlow bolt cycle is unforgiving after a miss; Unlocks later without a larger magazine or unique attachment
AttachmentsSniper Scope — 25 kills; Bayonet — 75 kills; Rifle Grenade — 150 kills; Use the scope on long lanes; keep iron sights if faster target acquisition matters more than magnification
Challenge noteExpert I-III use 25, 75 and 150 headshots for 100, 500 and 1,000 XP. They unlock no weapon camo.
Use tipLeave cover only for the shot, then use the slower bolt cycle to reset position before re-peeking.
Compared withIt cycles more slowly than the Springfield and Kar98k and is mainly a preference in sight picture and feel.
