How do you unlock the Skorpion?

The Skorpion unlocks at Level 7 in Call of Duty: Black Ops. It is a compact 20-round SMG whose best work happens at very short range. Its damage falls away quickly with distance, so the correct route and engagement range matter more than trying to force it across open lanes. Buying it costs 2,000 CoD Points after the unlock condition is met. It accepts all 14 standard store camos plus Gold from 14th Prestige.

How does the Skorpion play in Black Ops 1?

Also written asvz. 61 Skorpion
RoleVery-close-range 20-round SMG
Real-world basisCzechoslovak vz. 61 Skorpion machine pistol
StrengthsStrong close-range per-shot pressure within its intended distance; Grip, Dual Wield and magazine options support distinct close-quarters builds
TradeoffsSteep range loss makes medium-distance fights unfavorable; Twenty rounds leave limited margin for several targets or missed shots
Attachments and setupAvailable choices include Extended Mags, Grip, Dual Wield, Suppressor and Rapid Fire rather than conventional optics; Extended Mags is the direct fix when the 20-round magazine ends fights early
Challenge noteBO1 weapon challenges are separate from camouflage. Camos are bought per eligible primary with earned CoD Points rather than unlocked through a weapon challenge.
Camo tipMove between cover and take fights only after closing the gap. If a target is across an open lane, rotate instead of spending the whole magazine at weak range.
Compared withIt pressures a point-blank target harder than the generalist MP5K, while the AK74u is far more comfortable from close into medium range.

Skorpion — common questions

What level does the Skorpion unlock at in Black Ops 1?

The Skorpion unlocks at Level 7 in Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer. It then costs 2,000 CoD Points. The level cap is 50, and prestige is up to 15.

How do camos work on the Skorpion?

Camos here are bought, not earned: every standard camo costs 250 CoD Points per weapon once camo purchases unlock at level 22, with no challenges or headshots attached. Gold is the exception — it unlocks for purchase at 14th Prestige and costs 50,000 CoD Points per weapon. These are earned multiplayer CoD Points from BO1's economy, not the premium COD Points used in newer games. Each camo is bought per weapon, so buying one for the Skorpion only unlocks it there.
