How do you unlock the PSG1?

The PSG1 is the classified sniper rifle: buy the Dragunov, WA2000 and L96A1 first, then purchase it for 2,000 CoD Points; Level 27 is the earliest possible unlock. It combines semi-automatic follow-up with a five-round magazine and fast scope recentering, but it does not share the L96A1's wider one-shot area. It accepts all 14 standard store camos plus Gold from 14th Prestige.

How does the PSG1 play in Black Ops 1?

Also written asPSG-1
RoleClassified five-round semi-auto precision rifle
Real-world basisGerman Heckler & Koch PSG1 precision rifle
StrengthsFast scope recentering supports deliberate correction shots; Semi-auto follow-up without operating a bolt
TradeoffsFive rounds are the smallest standard magazine in the class; Requires buying all three other sniper rifles first
Attachments and setupExtended Mags, ACOG, Infrared Scope, Suppressor and Variable Zoom are available; Extended Mags directly addresses its clearest limit; scope changes should follow the map rather than habit
Challenge noteBO1 weapon challenges are separate from camouflage. Camos are bought per eligible primary with earned CoD Points rather than unlocked through a weapon challenge.
Camo tipAim with the patience of the L96A1, then use semi-auto only when a correction is genuinely needed. Reload before holding a busy lane with one round left.
Compared withIts core one-shot zones match the Dragunov and WA2000, while the L96A1 covers more of the body; the PSG1's advantages are quick recentering and semi-auto follow-up.

PSG1 — common questions

What level does the PSG1 unlock at in Black Ops 1?

The PSG1 is a classified weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops — buy every other weapon in its class first, making Level 27 the earliest possible rank. It then costs 2,000 CoD Points. The level cap is 50, and prestige is up to 15.

How do camos work on the PSG1?

Camos here are bought, not earned: every standard camo costs 250 CoD Points per weapon once camo purchases unlock at level 22, with no challenges or headshots attached. Gold is the exception — it unlocks for purchase at 14th Prestige and costs 50,000 CoD Points per weapon. These are earned multiplayer CoD Points from BO1's economy, not the premium COD Points used in newer games. Each camo is bought per weapon, so buying one for the PSG1 only unlocks it there.
