How do you unlock the Dragunov?

The Dragunov is available once Create-a-Class opens at Level 4 in Call of Duty: Black Ops. The Dragunov's 10-round semi-automatic magazine supports quick correction shots, but its one-shot area is narrower than the bolt-action L96A1's, so careful placement still matters. No CoD Points purchase is required. It accepts all 14 standard store camos plus Gold from 14th Prestige.

How does the Dragunov play in Black Ops 1?

Also written asSVD Dragunov
RoleDefault 10-round semi-automatic sniper rifle
Real-world basisSoviet SVD Dragunov designated marksman rifle
StrengthsLargest standard magazine in the sniper class; Semi-auto follow-up without cycling a bolt
TradeoffsLess forgiving one-shot placement than the L96A1; Quick follow-ups still need the scope to return to the target
Attachments and setupExtended Mags, ACOG, Infrared Scope, Suppressor and Variable Zoom are available; Stay with the standard scope until a different zoom level solves a specific map problem
Challenge noteBO1 weapon challenges are separate from camouflage. Camos are bought per eligible primary with earned CoD Points rather than unlocked through a weapon challenge.
Camo tipLet the scope settle before each follow-up instead of spending the 10-round magazine as fast as possible. The larger magazine is useful only when the shots remain placed.
Compared withIt holds more rounds than every other sniper; the WA2000 recenters cleanly, while the L96A1 trades semi-auto follow-up for a wider one-shot area.

Dragunov — common questions

What level does the Dragunov unlock at in Black Ops 1?

The Dragunov is available once Create-a-Class opens at Level 4 in Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer. No CoD Points purchase is required. The level cap is 50, and prestige is up to 15.

How do camos work on the Dragunov?

Camos here are bought, not earned: every standard camo costs 250 CoD Points per weapon once camo purchases unlock at level 22, with no challenges or headshots attached. Gold is the exception — it unlocks for purchase at 14th Prestige and costs 50,000 CoD Points per weapon. These are earned multiplayer CoD Points from BO1's economy, not the premium COD Points used in newer games. Each camo is bought per weapon, so buying one for the Dragunov only unlocks it there.
