How Black Ops 2 camos unlock

Black Ops II camo progress is tracked separately on every weapon. The first nine finishes run from DEVGRU through Kryptek: Typhon, followed by Carbon Fiber, Cherry Blossom, Art of War, Ronin and Skulls before per-weapon Gold and class-based Diamond. Assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs and pistols begin with headshots. Snipers use One Shot, One Kill medals; shotguns use one-hit kills; launchers and Specials have weapon-specific ladders. Every camo page lists the exceptions. Checked and current — July 2026.

25 of the camos are paid DLC rather than in-game unlocks. The 25 Personalization Pack camos are included in the free Ultimate Customization Bundle for the 2026 PS4/PS5 release. Availability, installation and pricing on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC depend on that platform's store and any existing entitlement. Four additional special finishes have platform-specific access: Ghosts and Elite Member are default on PC, CE Digital is tied to Digital Deluxe or a legacy collector entitlement, and Advanced Warfare remains an expired promotion.

Gold & Diamond mastery

Gold — complete all 14 progression camo challenges on that weapon, from DEVGRU through Skulls; Personalization Pack and promotional camos are not required. Diamond — earn Gold on every required weapon in one weapon class.

Legacy promotional camos

Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Elite Member and CE Digital originated as promotions, service rewards or edition bonuses rather than multiplayer challenges. Current access differs by platform: Ghosts and Elite Member are default on PC, CE Digital is tied to Digital Deluxe or a legacy collector entitlement, and Advanced Warfare remains an expired promotion.

Normal Prestige resets rank-gated Create-a-Class access and requires weapons to be unlocked again unless a Prestige Award is used for a permanent unlock. Weapon camo progress and completed weapon challenges are retained; Fresh Start is the separate action that resets multiplayer progress more broadly.

The original game released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Wii U. The 2026 PS4/PS5 release supports cross-generation multiplayer between those PlayStation versions, but platform storefronts and legacy entitlements differ. The challenge requirements here follow the original final multiplayer rules rather than assuming that every store offers the same downloadable content.
