How do you unlock the M1216?

The M1216 unlocks at Level 52 in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It fires four shells automatically from the active tube, then pauses while the cylinder rotates to the next four-round stack. Its 16-shell capacity supports sustained close-range pressure, but each rotation can interrupt tracking in a crowded fight. Reaching a weapon's level makes it available, but purchasing it in Create-a-Class costs one Unlock Token. A token is earned at each level-up. Its camo track finishes at Skulls (10 Bloodthirsty medals with the weapon). Complete every camo challenge on it and Gold unlocks. Earn Gold on the whole class for Diamond.

Reviewed July 27, 2026. Game identity, Pick 10, weapon leveling and the Peacekeeper's post-launch status were checked against Activision material. Current PlayStation availability and the 25-pack bundle were checked against PlayStation Store listings. Class and weapon-specific camouflage requirements were cross-checked against recorded in-game challenge wording. Base multiplayer capacities and weapon identifications were checked against a dedicated BO2 stat reference and IMFDB, with fictional or uncertain designs labeled as such. Crossbow mechanics and legacy camo access were separately checked against historical references and the current Steam Digital Deluxe listing. Setup advice and weapon comparisons are editorial and avoid unsupported damage or time-to-kill claims.

How does the M1216 play in Black Ops 2?

RoleFully automatic rotating-magazine shotgun
Real-world basisSRM Arms Model 1216 rotating-magazine shotgun
StrengthsQuick follow-up shots support multi-target room defense; The larger system can sustain pressure longer than a pump action
TradeoffsTube rotation can interrupt an otherwise continuous firing rhythm; The one-hit camo ladder still demands closer, more centered first shots
Attachments and setup notesLong Barrel supports one-hit consistency at the edge of a room; Extended Clip increases sustained pressure; Fast Mag helps when the full rotating system finally needs attention
Challenge noteFinish the one-hit-kill ladder through 250 kills, then 30 Revenge medals, 50 kills with no attachments, 50 kills with no perks, 5 Double Kill medals and 10 Bloodthirsty medals. Completing all 14 challenges earns Gold.
Progression tipCount the cylinder rhythm and close the distance so each initial shot advances the one-hit ladder instead of relying on follow-ups.
Camo tipRotate or reload from cover before entering the next room; do not discover the tube transition in front of an opponent.
Compared withThe S12 uses a conventional semi-automatic box magazine; the M1216 delivers faster four-shot automatic strings but has a distinct cylinder-rotation pause to manage.
