How does the M1 Irons play in Advanced Warfare?

RoleSingle-action revolver added for all original platforms
Real-world basisA fictional or substantially redesigned Advanced Warfare special weapon; no exact production counterpart is asserted
StrengthsIt arrived in a free title update and uses its own M1 Irons camo profile even though it is listed as a Special; The M1 Irons has a defined single-action revolver added for all original platforms purpose instead of being treated as interchangeable class filler
TradeoffsThe deliberate single-action cadence gives less correction room than an automatic or burst sidearm; The M1 Irons still depends on route choice and first-shot discipline in Advanced Warfare's fast Exo-movement fights
Setup notesBuild the class around the weapon's unique input and engagement window instead of forcing a normal rifle template onto it; Use perks and equipment to reach the situations its special mechanic is designed to solve
Challenge noteThe M1 Irons uses the m1 irons post-patch challenge profile. Gold is a separate final challenge, then Diamond requires every camouflage challenge on this weapon. Personalization camos and Sentinel do not count.
Progression tipCamo progress is stored on the M1 Irons. It can earn its own camos and Diamond, but its Diamond is not required for Royalty. Royalty becomes available on it once the required launch weapons in its category are complete.
Camo tipLet the revolver settle between shots and build point-blank or headshot challenges around short, controlled routes.
Compared withThe 1911 is a later semi-automatic pistol limited to newer platforms; the M1 Irons is the free all-platform revolver.

Camo progress is per-weapon. Advanced Warfare has fourteen regular challenge camos followed by a separate Gold challenge on each eligible weapon.
